Electronic smoking device sales are also banned within a quarter mile of middle and high schools. Pre-2021 hookah bars have an on-site consumption exception.

Kratom Status

No District law or regulation bans the kratom leaf. 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) is a Schedule I controlled substance under 22-B DCMR § 1201.1(h)(16), where the entry is labelled "Kratom"; mitragynine and the leaf itself are not listed, and D.C. Code § 48-902.04 contains no kratom entry. Unlike the pending federal 7-OH action, the District entry sets no concentration threshold, so it does not expressly exempt the small amount of 7-OH that occurs naturally in leaf. Do not stock 7-OH tablets, extracts, or products marketed on their 7-OH content; confirm plain-leaf products with DC Health before stocking.
